Part of large spruce stand on flat-topped western ridge of Black Mountain. To the west this stand drops down toward Cash camp Run and northern hardwoods. Located in Cranberry Wilderness Area. Nearby stand of spruce/rhododendron with Sorbus americanus, Acer rubrum, Ilex montana at 563032, 4236670.;Verdant, hummocky spruce-Bazzania forest with moss-covered down trees, tip mounds, and tree roots. Second growth stand with a few older trees that were pole-sized when this would have been logged around 1910. Density dependant mortality in T3 spruce and hemlock. North-South trail runs 50 m from the plot and an old campfire was noted 20 m outside plot.
